The Serbs took advantage of the struggle between Albania and Italy to occupy part of the country, establishing the Republic of Mirdita, but Albanian forces expelled them.

Flag Bulletin Newsletter [fbn] # 32 (10 February 1979) quoted the Mirditischen Republik. An unidentified flag was attribued to the Mirdita Republic or the Republic of Koritza. It has three horizontal stripes, red, white and green. In the red part, in the centre, there is the black Albanian double-headed eagle. The real flag might be different because my source says that the flag contains the double-headed eagle in red, but does not say that it is the only element on the flag.
