About the Flag of São José

The flag is red with a white rectangular panel bearing the municipal coat of arms, and on the fly four small stars in a diamond pattern, presumably representing the Southern Cross (Cruzeiro do Sul). The coat of arms is divided per pale, the dexter half red with a white branch of what appears to be laurel paleways. The sinister half is divided per fess, blue with the shield of the Swiss Confederation in the upper half and an achievement of arms that I can't make out on a white field in the lower half. The supporters are a dolphin and a cornucopia.
