Unequal triband of dark blue, white and dark yellow charged on the white area with a local badge (I'm not sure whether the badge is used somewhere besides the flag). This badge is coat-of-arms-like and can be blazoned as "azure, a mining building argent issuant from a layer of mining waste above a layer of gold all proper above a river of seven wavy fesses of azure and or between a maple tree or and a trophy of pike an spade per saltire of the same bellow an aurora borealis argent." Motto: "Multum in parvo" (meaning "much in little") and cri de guerre "The City of Yellow Knife Northwest Territories", both in black capitals on yellow scrolls.
Yellowknife, with a population of 17275 (as of 1996), is also known as Sombak'e (meaning "money place"), and is located approx. at 62°N lat. and 114°W long. (the site says "62'276'N latitude and 114'226'W longitude), which is obviously mistaken!), on on the west shore of Yellowknife Bay on
the North Arm of Great Slave Lake. Local languages are Chipewyan, Dogrib, South and North Slavey, English and French, and to the community belongs the electoral district of Frame Lake, Great Slave, Kam Lake, Range Lake, Weledeh, Yellowknife Centre and Yellowknife South.
