The visual identification of the city of Terrebonne celebrates the number 3. Three stands for Lachenaie, La Plaine and Terrebonne, the three founding territories. Three stands for a community definitely inscribed in time: past, present and future. Three recalls the vocations of the city: residential, commercial and industrial [Note: another city source replaces commercial by agricultural - LB]. Three is a witness to human activity: social, economical and cultural. Graphically, these elements are represented by three bright color areas, between which one can distinguish the letter T for Terrebonne. Together, the three areas form a protecting shield, an allusion to the rich patrimonial past and the richness of the quality of life. Nature, intimately linked to the territory's evolution is represented by water, source of life, flowing from one element to another, and by the tree, a symbol of force and stability. The shield relies on a green curve, passing through the horizon, in a protecting and vast stroke, of warrant of a promising future. The ensemble is signed by a typography that is both modern and naturally elegant, and from which a feeling of simplicity and perennial continuity emanates. Building of the force of this image, the corporate signature makes reference to the respect and attachment of the city to its traditional values and its wish to ensure a better quality of life to its citizens.
