Overview

Quibdó is the capital of Choco Department. From the Coat of Arms and headline colors at <www.alcaldiadequibdo.gov.co>, its flag is green over red.
Dov Gutterman, 26 October 2004

The Coat of Arms gave an impression that the flag is green over red. However it is green-red-coffee (2:1:1) as seen at:   <orbita.starmedia.com/~quibdo3>.

Translated from that site: Green (1/2) stands for the tropical forest that surounds the municipality and the ecological wealth that makes it a lung for mankind. Red (1/4) means the blood spilled by our ancestors in the liberty fight. Brown (1/4) is a tribute to Quindo's patron saint, St Francis of Asis [I could guess that it is the color of the custom of the Franciscan order].
Carlos Thompson, 6 November 2004

Brown is the colour of the habit worn by the monk's of the Order of St Francis of Assisi..
