Horní Město municipality flag

Number of inhabitants by 31.12. 2000: 1010. The village was founded in the 15th century next to silver mines. This circumstance gave the village its name (Bergstadt in German). The first written trace dated back to 1489. Dobřečov, being a local part, was mentioned in 1528. Stříbrné Hory was mentioned in 1542. At the end of the 18th century iron ore mining and processing started. Mining of non-ferrous metals (silver, lead, zinc) was re-opened and ran from 1966-1970.
