Besednice has 804 (1.3.2001) inhabitants. Written documentation of Besednice goes back to the 14th century, and even during the reign of Václav IV, Besednice belonged to the Velešínský property. In 1387, Besednice passed over to the property of the Rosenbergs. In 1395, Besednice and its surroundings were given by Heinrich III. von Rosenberg to the parish St. Vítus Church in Český Krumlov in Český Krumlov. Since that time up until 1848, practically all of Besednice belonged to the Krumlov Prelate. The extensive grounds and forests of the Besednice region still belonged to the prelates in 1910.
