Frýdek and Místek, developed independently since 1265 at both sides
of the frontier river Ostravice, have been joined in 1943
as one town. It is a natural gate to the Beskydy mountains and the
cross road of travelling and touristic routes. It is an important industrial
centre of the North-Moravian Region.
