Znojmo city flag

[Znojmo city flag] by Blas Delgado Ortiz, 11 Aug 2001

The Flag: The field with two (equal) stripes - yellow over red. In the carré blue (Square Canton) - eagle diplayed chequy gules and or, langued gules. Eagle is charged with an escutcheon azure charged with a letter „Z" or. (also crowned!) . The Ratio of the flag is 2:3. The local Public Notice Nr.6/1996 clearly describes yellow and red field (yellow over red) and a
square canton with Znojmo eagle (in original version "karé", -transcription from French "carré"). The eagle is red and golden too, not red and silver! I saw the bicolour with Coat of arms too, but only as Arms, decorated with "Stadtfarben", if not "Landesfarben", never as a flag. The flag was adopted 15 May 1994.

Znojmo: the correct flag is horizontally yellow over red, with a Moravian eagle (with blue escutcheon and yellow 'Z') within the blue square canton (i.e. Chile-like pattern). The eagle should be yellow-red checkered.
