A yellow flag with black and red stripes on top (resembling the German colors) and reverse red and black stripes on bottom, the yellow part being four times as wide as the each red or black stripe with LDPD symbol in center. The symbol was a combination of the red letters L and D in front of a sunrise, surrounded by the words LIBERAL-DEMOKRATISCHE PARTEI DEUTSCHLANDS. Source: German Democratic Republic parties website.

According to Günther 2000 the flag was horizontally striped black-red-yellow-red-black (1+1+4+1+1) with the symbol in the center.
