Vertical red-white-red 1:2:1 with the arms. The flag is shown at the county website. The small shields on the wall show the eagle of Brandenburg and the griffin of Pomerania.
Stefan Schwoon, 4 February 2001
Flag adopted 08.11.1995, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The arms were granted on November 8, 1995. The city wall and church represent the impressive churches in Prenzlau and Angermünde, as well as the formerly many monasteries in the district. The area was a border area and many forts were established in the district in the Middle Ages. The two small shields show the arms of Brandenburg (eagle) and Pommern (griffin), as the area historically belonged to these tow States. The wavy bars represent the Oder, Randow and Ucker rivers in the district.Literature: Linder and Olzog 1996.
