German Democratic Union 1955-1961

Deutsche Demokratische Union / DDU

The DDU was a left-wing party in the Saar, founded in 1955 and became part of the DFU in 1961. It had two seats in the Saar parliament from 1960-1965. It had no flag. Sources: Rabbow 1965 and Rabbow 1970.

Saarland People's Party 1959-1965

Saarländische Volkspartei / SVP

The SVP was a conservative party in the Saar, founded 1959 from remnants of the CVP that did not want to join the CDU. The CVP (Christliche Volkspartei, Christian People's Party) had been the major conservative party in the Saar during the special status (until 1957). The SVP had seats in the Landtag from 1960-1970.
