Red and white horizontal stripes in proportions about 2:1:1:1:1:1:2.
Jorge Candeias, 26 July 1999

From http://www.tapa.ee/: Coat of arms - is a forked silver cross on a red shield, a double - edged silver sword across the lower branch of the forked cross with the golden hilt on the left. The forked silver cross is the railroad from Tallinn and its branches to Narva and Valga. The silver sword marks the spot between Tapa and Tallinn where in 1918 Estonian forces stopped a Russian assault. The surface of Tapa's flag is divided alternately into four red and three white horizontal stripes. The outer upper and outer lower stripes are red both with the width of 2/9 of the flag; the three white and two red lines between these have each the width of 1/9 of the flag. Again, the three white stripes represent the rail lines to Tallinn, Narva, and Valga.
