Description

The 1945 army ensign is no longer in use; in Banderas ed. 1978, page 24 they present as Bandera para buques y embarcaciones del Ejército the triband with blue letters 'ET' in the yellow and the army emblem over them in the red.

Armand du Payrat, 14 December 1999

There is an Army Ensign in Spain, used by naval units depending from the Army. The current Army ensign shows the blue letters 'ET' (for Ejército de Tierra or Army) on the yellow stripe and the Army emblem —a golden eagle displayed bearing a red cross of St. James and with an open royal crown between the tips of its wings, as in this image from the Spanish Army official website— on the red stripe.

The letters in the Army Ensign should have the following dimensions (according to the 1977 Decree):

  • height: 1/4th hoist
  • width: 1/6th hoist
  • space between letters: 1/18th hoist
The army emblem should have a height of 1/5th of the hoist.
