Album des Pavillons 1990 mentioned an ensign with silver letters 'R' and 'N' on both sides of the arms for ships belonging to the reserve fleet, which does no longer appear in Album des Pavillons 2000.

There no longer is a naval reserve (Reserva Naval, hence RN) flag. It was last used during the 1975 operations from the Canary Islands to the Spanish Sahara and abolished by the 1977 decree.
