A vertical version of the municipal flag of Marseilles can be seen in front of the Stade Vélodrome (football stadium), alternating with vertical Tricolore flags.

Flag with a cross resarcelee

[Flag with a cross resarcelee]by Ivan Sache

Thierry Gilabert reported a possible variant of the municipal flag of Marseilles. The flag is shown on a colour poster released by the tourism office of Marseilles, shown without caption on the Lexilogos website.

The poster shows a huge flag hoisted over the St. John's tower, located at the entrance of the Vieux-Port. The flag is white with a light blue cross but the cross is resarcelee, that is the cross is bordered by a thin light blue stripe separated from the cross by a thin white stripe.

I suppose that this cross is an artistic licence. It might have been the source for the logotype of the municipality of Marseilles, which shows a similar cross.
