Presentation of the municipality

Perros-Guirec is a sea resort of c. 7,500 inhabitants located on the northern coast of Brittany).

The name of the city comes from Pen Ros, in Breton the head of the hill, and Guirec, a monk who landed here in the VIth century. Perros-Guirec is located on the Côte de Granite Rose (Coast of Pink Granite), famous for its heaps of pink rocks. A scenic Sentier des Douaniers (Customers' Path) links Perros-Guirec to the small port of Ploumanac'h.

The Polish novelist Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916) spent a few years in the castle of Costaëres, built on an islet a few fathoms off Ploumanac'h.
