Description of the Flag

[UK civil ensign]    [UK civil ensign] by Jorge Candeias

Following the riotous celebrations accompanying the Chelsea victory yesterday, which gave them their first League Championship in fifty years, I saw several new Chelsea flags being waved by the crowds. They were (a) a 'Canadian pale' in blue-white-blue, with the club crest in the center of the white stripe; and (b) a similar pale except that the blue portion is actually checkered blue and white - very striking.

The photos were published in the Público newspaper (Portugal) of 23 May, showing the party of Chelsea's supporters, with checkered tribands  and the central panel charged with the logo of Chelsea and the inscriptions "CHELSEA" above and "PREMIERSHIP / CHAMPIONS" below. Each of the white(?) squares is charged with a
circular charge, probably also the symbol of the club. There's also a plain triband, with the same charges in the central panel, although relatively smaller. I'd bet strongly that the colours of these flags are blue and white.
