Many flags are based on the British Union Flag ("Union Jack"). Below we present templates that can be used to construct other flags.
The typical 1:2 British ensign with 4/9ths disc on the
fly; main field in black for better flooding (there is no real black ensign as
far as I know). The disc encircles all pre-1999 badges, even if it is not coloured differently. Later badges are depicted much
larger.

The same as above but in 3:5 proportions; an ensign for use in land, but very seldom.

I notice that the "new style" disk with garland appears larger than
previously. Is that so? The "old style" disk with garland was supposed
to be 4/9 of the hoist (same as in the blue ensign).
Željko Heimer, 1 March 2003
The new style garland is larger - that way the emblem it contains can be larger and more clearly seen. The old 4/9 size was just too small and was obviously not chosen by a herald!
