Overview

Nanortalik municipality is the southest town of Greenland, and it is included in the territory of West Greenland ("Kitaa"); its official name is "Nanortalik Kommunea". Its blazon consists of three polar bears in a red field. I found it at <www.nanortalik.gl>, where you can find information about the town.

Please note that Nanortalik has the only municipal arms with a red field, because a blue field like the other municipalities would be too close to the Greenlandic arms. Nanok means polar bear in Greenlandic, and Nanortalik means 'the bear place'.

Photos at <www.nanortalik.gl>> show only coat of arms but no flag. Therefore, this reported flag probably don't exist (yet?). For information about the Coat of Arms, see <www.ngw.nl>.
