Overview

The community of Strahoninec was formed in 1997 secedeing from the city of Cakovec. It is situated due south of Cakovec and it is its suburb. Strahoninec has about 2,600 inhabitants and probably few hunderds more in surrounding villages.
The article in the local newspapers at <www.mnovine.hr> describes who the flag and the coat of arms are adopted on the previous day (11.11.2003): "Dobili grb, zastavu i dva nova vjecnika", Medimurske novine, br. 427, 12.11.2003.
The coat of arms of Strahoninec is gules a whip embowed-counterembowed or and in base a stump eradicated also or.
The whip alludes to the name of the community having the root in the word meaning 'fear' ('strah'), and the whip's shape forms the shape of the initial letter S.
The flag is light blue with the yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle. Quite probably there might be a ceremonial flag, too.
