Draganic [Draganic'] - Community in "Karlovacka
zupanija", until 1993 was part of the Karlovac community,
but with the new administartive division of Croatia it (re)gains
the status of community. They claim (on road signs in the
community) that the community was first established in 1249.
Until 1997 the official name was in plural form
"Draganici" [again c with acute].
The coat of arms is blue with a curious charge or in the middle
surrounded by a downponting traingle of the same, an other
misterious charge (snowflake?) argent in dexter and a crescent of
the last in sinster. The photo I have made is particularly
unclear at the point where the "snowflake" is, and it
might be that it is actually an ordinarly mullet, something that
is much more expected here, but it seems in that case that at
least there are "perls" at the top of each point.
I have not seen a flag used in the community, but one could
easily expect that the rule is followed, and the monocoloured
flag is defaced with the coat of arms in the middle. I'd bet that
the colour used is blue, that seems to be the most popular colour
of the local Croatian flags. However, until some further
evidence, here is only the image of the coat of arms, based on
the photo of the road sign set in the entrance to the community
from Karlovac on the "Old Karlovac" road (road from
Zagreb to Karlovac built before the highway) photographed on 26
June 2000.
