Overview

The community of Kršan is situated in the central eastern part of Istria, 15 km southeast of Pazin. Population 3,400, but only about 200 in the old town of the same name.  
The coat of arms of Kršan is Gules a spearhead Argent. It is the older coat of arms of the Pazinski (de Pisino) family. In XIV century they renewed the Kršan castellum that was ruined in the wars between the counts of Görz and the partriarchs of Aquilea. A barnch of the family under the name Kršanski (Germ. Chersainer) ruled Kršan until the middle XVII century. The coat of arms is pictured in the St. Nicolas church in Pazin and also on a stone carvings in the walls of Kršan. The modern artistical representation must have been adopted around 1995, most probably designed by the Rijeka company Heraldik-art d.o.o.   I have no info on the flag itself, but the flag manufacturer's site at <www.zastave.com> (belonging to a company near Varaždin named "Valentino") showes a table flag photo. Since the photo is very small I had to do some "reconstruction" to draw the image that may not be entirely accurate.
