Overview

Okučani is a community in the Brod-Posavina County, some 60 km west of Slavonski Brod, an important crossroads, 6,200 inhabitants, 2,500 in the town of the same name.
The coat of arms drawing I received from Tihomir Podkornjak, Cernik, 06.05.2004. The coat of arms is Azure a thunderbolt proper. This is the heraldic charge that represents lightning inherited from antique symbols of Jupiter. It is shaped as a golden cigar with wings, thunder-arrows radiating from it and fire from one end.
The thunderbolt probably refers to the Operation Flash (Bljesak), the operation performed by the Croatian Defence Forces in that liberating the region in just few days in May 1995. Okučani and surrounding region was known as Western Slavonia as a part of the separatist Serb Republic of Krayina.
I have no info yet on the flag and the ceremonial flag, though it should be quite obvious that the design was from the workshops of the Heraldik-art d.o.o of Rijeka, and then we should expect both.
