Overview

Solin is a city just due north of Split in the Split-Dalmatia County. It was the older city in Roman times from which Split eventually evolved after its destruction (in 6th century?). Like the neigbouring Split, Solin also uses an unheraldical emblem that they insist on calling the coat of arms, however the Ministry objects to it.
The emblem consists of a light blue oveal shield including the name of the city, a rising sun, a cross , a construction sheme of the Church and the Croatian chequy fields.
Until 1993 the "Greater Split" was composed of the Split proper, Solin and Kaštela, making the so called the Civic Assembly of Communities Split, shareing some buissnes, while each of the three was retaining the basic local authonomy. The emblem might be from that period (though the cross would then not have been included, and probably there was a star in its place...).
No flag, as far as I am aware.
