Concerning the maritime company: NovoShip - base: Russia on
which Dov Gutterman located a photo of An actual flag at
:
http://www.novoship.ru/graphics/spusk-trogir-01.jpg , I
deduced from the photo that the Novoship company has business
with Croatia, probably even a joint-venture with some Croatian
company.

Guess what? I don't need the photo to tell you that it might
have a "Croatian connection". Trogir is the name of a
city in Dalmatia (some 20 km west of Split), and there is a large
shipyard there. Looking at the photo and then with a quick glance
at the pages, it is obvious that the company built that ship in
Trogir shipyard, and the vessel was named after it. Croatia have
important shipbuilding industry, and many large vessels are build
in various shipyards allong Adriatic coast.
Which reminded me - I read in some of the Croatian laws of sea
faring that the vessels that bear a name of certain city (or
other flag holding entity) that they have right to use the flag
of that entity as a jack. Is that a common worldwide practice?
Unfortunately, I don't know if Trogir have a modern flag - I am
sure that it would have a historical gonfanon or something.
I have found an image of the coat of arms of Trogir in a newspapers ad (in
which the city congratulates the stateshood day on 30-MAY-1998).
In reconstruction of it I have made up the colours to what I
believe they might be, but be aware that the original image was
B/W.
If that would be the new coat of arms of Trogir (logical, no?), it is
probable that the flag is one-coloured with this coat of arms in the
middle.

Trogir - The coat of arms of Trogir is: Azure, a Fort with a
Bell-tower Argent on the base barry wavy of the two; a Trailling
Mullet Or in canton and in the doors of the fort standing the
patron-saint of the city. The arms are probably modernization of
some older pattern. The flag is white with the coat of arms in the middle.
One should note that the colours of the coat of arms are my reconstruction
from description and the black and white colour in the source
below. The colouring of the patron saint is specifically
unconfirmed.
