Overview

Rábapordány is a village in Győr-Moson-Sopron county. Photo taken by me on 17th August 2001 at "General County Meeting" in Győr . Here is a photo of the flag.

The image is based on the photo taken by me. CoA from the Gyor-Moson-Sopron county Atlas "HISZI-Map Kft" (1998). From the atlas: "According to findings uncovered on Patyi Hill the area was already populated in the neolithic and bronze ages. The area is very rich in findings from the ages of the Roman Empire and the Avars. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1351. In the early Middle Ages it belonged to the castle of Kapuvár and in the sixteenth century it became the largest farm plant of the Nádasdy Family. As a results of damage by Turkish troops the village was unpopulated from 1594 to 1610. It suffered a lot of casualties during the war of indepence in 1848-49 also during the world wars. The population was radically reduced by two emigration waves. The village has a population of 1160 persons".
