West Indies cricket Board flag and emblem

[West Indies Cricket Board emblem]
by Juan Manuel Gabino Villascán, February 11, 2003.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). It is a full member of the International Cricket Council. The WICB is made of by the Cricket Association of:

  • Barbados
  • Guyana
  • Jamaica
  • Leeward Islands
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Windward Islands
That forme a single team to take part in international events, such as the Cricket World Cup, and international friendly matches.

During the Oppening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup, organized by International Cricket Council, at South-Africa on February 8, 2003, the West Indies side marched with a plain red flag with the emblem of the WICB over all in the center. It is assumed that the same flag is of the West Indies Cricket Board.
The emblem consist of a Polish blue field charged with depictions of an island, a palm-tree, a bail and a rising sun.
Juan Manuel Gabino Villascán, February 11, 2003.

When the West Indies cricket team was in South Africa at the end of last year/beginning of this year, they used this flag but the background was dark red/maroon - definitely not brown. Some of the flags just had the shield in the centre of a plain field with no horizontal stripes.
    Bruce Berry, 18 May, 1999

The site http://www-uk.cricket.org/ has little flags on the homepage, and the one of the West Indies doesn't have stripes.
