Overview

This Coat of Arms shows the natural environment that is common in the municipality's territory, Cogliate is near Groane's woods. The presence of those woods have driven the anciant administrators of the municipality to emphesize it by including in three trees at natural "eradicated" in the Coat of Arms . It is interesting to note that the Heraldic tree is also the main shape on the Coat of Arms of the Frigerio's family of Milan, linked to Cogliate for their famous charity activity. This family founded one of their seven "Opere Pie" (charitable old institutions in Italy) in Cogliate . See also at the Coat of Arms on page 436 of Volume I of "Dizionario Storico-Blasonico di G.B. di Crollalanza.
Davide Basilico (translated by Paolo Zanzottera), 13 May 2005

The flag (?) that Davide sent was a simply very pale blue rectangular flag, 2:3, with the Coat of Arms centred on it and occupying 80% of the height of the flag.
