"Forza Nuova" (New Force <http://www.forzanuova.org>)
- This seems to be the most radical of the right-extremist
parties currently, and especially the most attractive for younger
people. It was founded 1997 in London by two right-extremists
presumably involved in the 1980 bomb attempt in Bologna. The
"Forza Nuova" maintains good contacts to other
right-extremist parties in Europe, including the British
"National Front" and the German NPD. Similar to the
latter the "Forza Nuova" attracts not only former
members of right-extremist groups banned in the 1990ies, but also
many of the Italian skinheads. In the 2001 elections the party
got 0,04% and 0,12% of the votes (Camera and Senato,
respectively).
The logo shows on a blue field the Italian cockade together with
the inscriptions "FN" (black) and "FORZA
NUOVA" (white). Logo at <cedweb.mininterno.it:8890>.
The flag is similar to the logo, but the field is either blue or
black, and all inscriptions are white. There exists another type
of flag (unofficial or former flag?) reminiscent of the NSDAP
flag: on a red field a white circle with the black letters
"F" and "N". Furthermore, followers of the
party use flags with a Celtic cross, either with white cross on
black or with black cross on a white disk on a red field. A
variant shows a red Celtic cross on the white stripe of a
Tricolore.

I located a site of what looks like an Italian party
Dov Gutterman, 9 January 1999
I think the image found on the webpage of "Nuova
Repubblica" is not a flag. The "Nuova Repubblica"
seems to be a merely local list (Ravenna area) now belonging to
Berlusconi's Forza Italia. I have not found any traces of this
party elsewhere.

NPSI or Nuovo PSI ("Nuovo Partito Socialista
Italiano" = New Italian Socialist Party <http://www.socialisti.net>)
- The NPSI is the more right-wing part of the former PSI (Partito
Socialista Italiano). The current leaders are Gianni de Michelis
and Bobo Craxi. It currently forms a parliamentary group with 6
out of 630 seats in the Chamber of Deputies (Camera dei
Deputati), called "Liberal-Democratici, Repubblicani, Nuovo
PSI" (formed 14 May 2002 from three NPSI deputies and three
other deputies); there is also one deputy in the Senate (Senato).
The statute describes the symbol (logo) of the party at <www.socialisti.net>:
"Art. 2 - Il simbolo nazionale, regionale, provinciale e
verde."
(The national, regional, provincial and communal symbol is
represented: by a circle with red and white border, a circular
ring therein, in the upper part the inscription "Partito
Socialista" and, in the lower part the inscription
"Nuovo PSI"; in the center of the circle, on a white
field is shown a carnation with red flower and green stalk.)
