Overview

Klaipeda and Memel are the same city, Klaipeda being its Russian/Lithuanian name and Memel its German name.

I applied to Klaipeda municipality for more info on Klaipeda flag, and I'd received the answer from Nijole Lazutkiene, superrior specialist of Information technologies dept., and Vidas Pakalniškis, superrior specialist of Culture dept. Here is translation of description:   "The flag of Klaipeda city was created by Klaipeda Design Center. The flag was adopted by Heraldry commission on June 18, 1992 (session report No 79). The flag is almost quadratic, standard dimentions are 130 cm (129 cm) in length and 120 cm (119 cm) in width, ratio is about 1.08. There is possible other dimensions according to this ratio there. Computer version of the flag was made by closed stock company Rodiklis.
