Flaggenbuch 1939 shows the war ensign as a white flag with a blue canton (2/3 of the hoist x 1/2 of the fly) bearing a red crescent and a red 5-pointed star. The national ensign on board image by Jaume Ollé same pattern but with 1/2 x 1/2 canton is not shown in the Neubecker 1992 facsimile edition of the Flaggenbuch 1939.

This is labelled in Flaggenbuch [1905 edition?] as Johore Nationalflagge an Bord (fly white, canton blue with red crescent and star).
