The green of the flag symbolizes the land of the ancestors, the soil, the country.
The red symbolizes the blood given in the struggle for independence, socialism,
and the unity of the Kanak people. The blue symbolizes the sky and the surrounding
ocean, the sovereignty in the Pacific Ocean of the Kanak people.
