In Whitney Smith's book [smi75b] there is
on the Nigeria page a flag of State of Lagos. What is interesting is that the
flag is in proportions approx. 5:6, green-white-green with coat of arms in the
middle (not Nigerian but some other) obviously based on Nigerian flag.

Among the many flag designs Mr. Pasch had sent me, there was one of the
Emirate of Kano (Kano is the largest city in Northern Nigeria, I would not be
surprised if its current population was of two or three million inhabitants).
His source was Flaggenmitteilungen, years 1983-1984. Could anybody tell me
what the status of the flag was? Is is still used? I have a vague remembrance
of seeing a flag on a report about Northern Nigeria.

Mr. Pasch mentioned a flag for Katsina Emirate (possibly, the Emir of
Katsina still is a major, if not the most influential personality in Muslim
Nigeria nowadays). This flag was white with "KATSINA" or
"EMIRAT KATSINA" written in black in the canton. There should be a
more precise drawing in the same issue of Flaggenmitteilungen.

I saw a brief report about Kaduna State. I saw one flag, but I don't know
its attribution. I believe that it is not the state flag.
