Alphen en Chaam is a merger of the former municipalities of Alphen en Riel, Chaam and a parts of Nieuw Ginneken (Galder and Strijbeek) (The rest of Nieuw Ginneken - Bavel and Ulvenhout - went to Breda) (1 Jan 1997). It has 9.486 inhabitants on 93,55 km2.
