Description"four equally wide horizontal stripes white - black - yellow - blue, with a vertical stripe at the hoist, with a width of 1/4 of flagheight. Flagheight and -length are 2:3.
The colors are derived from the original arms of Nuenen, Gerwen en Nederwetten. Gerwen had siz horizontal stripes alternating white and black with a blue canton with a golden mill-iron; that was the CoA of the van Gerven family. Nederwetten had a blue shield with three six-pointed stars: the arms of the van Berckel family. The colors gold and silver in the arms are translated in the flag as yellow and white. The red color occurred on the old CoA of Nuenen.
The municipal flag was first hoisted by mayor mr. R.W.M. Gerrits on Saturday 20 Aug 1977, in front of the councilhouse at the Papenvoort, when he was installed as Mayor of Nuenen c.a.
