Wormerveer villageflag
Stefan Lambregts sent via the Benevex-list the link
to the new villageflag of Wormerveer, now in Zaanstad municipality, Noord-Holland.
It has a photo and a story (reinterpreted by me)
Wormerveer was a separate municipality until 1974, with a flag quartered
white and red. When the municipality was dissolved the flag became obsolete,
but on the occasion of the celebrations of 500 years of Wormerveer it has
been restored as villageflag, with the addition in the canton of elements
of the old CoA.
The old CoA was: quartered: the first and fourth gules with a lion
argent; the second and third argent, with a lion gules.
On the new flag two red and two black lions have been put in a white
canton - a red lion opposite a black, and a black opposite a red one.
