Steenwijkerwold former municipality

Steenwijkerwold had c. 8.000 inhabitants, and consisted of the settlements Nederland, Scheerwolde and Tuk. Seat: Steenwijk. The name refers to forests near Steenwijk, probably those of De Eese and De Woldberg. It is a rural area.

Stefan Lambrechts just received another nice surprise from the village of Scheerwolde, Steenwijkerland municipality in Overijssel province: a yellow flag with on top and bottom a narrow blue stripe of c. 1/5 flagheight; in the center a blue phoenix arising from the marshes.

The flag was designed by the Society for village interests Scheerwolde (Plaatselijk Belang Scheerwolde) by using the vignette made by Peter Kessel of the Watersportvereniging Scheerwolde. In 2001 the village celebrated its 50th birthd
