Bleiswijk municipality

Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 10.392; area: 21,99 km². Settlements: Bleiswijk (seat), Kruisweg. The municipality is about in the center of the province of Zuid-Holland.
Bleiswijk is a municipality in Zuid-Holland province - it used to be in the Green Heart of Holland, but will shortly be absorbed by the residence of a lot of civil servants, Zoetermeer.

Flag: white with a black cross with arms of 1/5 flagheight, of which one arm is at 1/3 flaglength, with a yellow canton charged with a red open lozenge of 3/10 flagheight, and in the other quarters an adjacent black disk of 3/10 flagheight.

Old flag: two equally wide horizontal stripes: top red, bottom yellow, with on red at the hoist the municipal arms.

This is probably a revival of the 1938 parading flag for the celebrations of Queen Wilhelmina's 40 years of (stern) reign. Red and yellow were the provincial colors.
