Katwijk municipality

Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 41.539; area: 18,73 km². Settlements: Katwijk a/d Rijn, Katwijk aan Zee.
Katwijk is a seaside-resort on the Northsea-coast in Zuid-Holland, and since ancient times a fishing village with over 40.000 inhabitants.
Its present flag and CoA are blue saltires on white.

Sierksma's Nederlands Vlaggenboek (1962) [sie62] has:
Flagdescription: Two equally wide horizontal stripes of blue and white, with in the center the municipal arms.
This flag was adopted c. 1956; before that there was a flag in use consisting of two stripes blue over white - which had so many parallels in the Netherlands.
