Number of inhabitants: 19.141; area: 5785 hectares. Rijnwoude was formed
in 1991 with the merger of the former municipalities Benthuizen,
Hazerswoude-Dorp, Hazerswoude-Rijndijk and Koudekerke
aan den Rijn. At first the name Rijneveld was used, and since 1 Jan 1993
Rijnwoude. Settlements: Benthuizen, Hazerswoude-Dorp, Hazerswoude-Rijndijk
(seat), Koudekerk aan den Rijn.

The CoA of Rijnwoude consists of elements from the arms of the former
municipalities Benthuizen, Hazerswoude and Koudekerk aan den Rijn.
The golden star on the shield has been taken from the arms of Hazerswoude.
The silver eagle is from Koudekerke, and three green peat-blocks are from
the arms of Benthuizen.
The High Council of Nobility granted the CoA on 13 Oct 1992 to the
municipality of Rijnwoude. It has been designed by Willem Vis.
