Słubice, for centuries a suburb of Frankfurt-on-Odra, was awarded half of the white eagle, the symbol of its present nationality, and half of the red Frankfurt rooster, the symbol of its past history", even though formerly, on March 5th 1948, the Town Council ruled not to hold an arms design contest due to high costs of such an enterprise. To settle the matter, in early 1975 a special committee was set the task of selecting the final and indisputable version of Słubice's coat of arms.At the end of the year it decided on the earliest version which was subsequently approved by the town council in its resolution No III/14/75 of December 30th 1975.
