Warszawa-Targówek borough flag

[Targowek flag] by Antonio Martins, 30 Apr 1999, after image from this site, reported by Dov Gutterman, 4 Mar 1999

Description: The flag consists of three parallel horizontal bends of equal breadth: white, yellow and red.
Meaning: Choosing these colours the Council of the commune considered historical and patriotic motivations. It was decided to separate the colours of state flag (white and red) with yellow, considered as colour of Warsaw. White in heraldry means honesty, truth and purity. Yellow (in Warsaw it should be gold, given to royal cities) is nobility and friendliness. Red stands for courage and valour.
The flag was first flown on November 21st 1997. Targowek is a part of the city of Warsaw.
