About the flag

When the provinces got their arms in the 16th Century, Hälsingland was well known for its goats, which explains the animal in the coat of arms. The flag is a banner of the arms. I based the image on the type image of the arms made up in Riksheraldikerämbetet (Office of the National Heraldist) when the arms were regranted with a modernized blazon in 1938.
Elias Granqvist, 27 December 2003

Blazon

Official blazon in Swedish: "I svart fält en gyllene bock med röd beväring."

Blazoned in English: "Sable, a Goat rampant Or attired and hoofed Gules."
English blazon by Željko Heimer, 2000-Sep-30
