Municipal flag of Gornji Petrovci

The coat of arms and flag of Gornji Petrovci are prescribed by decision Odlok o uporabi grba in zastave Občine Gornji Petrovci, adopted on 1 April 1998 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 31/1998, 18 April 1998, with effect on 3 May 1998.
The basic layout of the coat of arms and flag might have been already hinted in the Statutse of the Municipality, but the decision prescribes them in details. The text in the official gazette is not accompanied with drawings.

The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The flag of Gornji Petrovci is of a design characteristic of the Slovenian municipal flags. A cross of an unusual shape is made of a combination of an horizontal division in three stripes and a vertical division in three unequal stripes, which is often known as Canadian pale.
