The municipality of Krško is located in the lower valley of Sava river, near the place where Sava enters Croatia. Krško is probably most known for the nuclear power plant build there, which is the only one in former Yugoslavia, and presumably the energy mentioned below on should refer to it.

The flag and arms are prescibed by the following decisions:
The flag is rectangular in ratio 2:1 (vertical), green with the emblem placed near the bottom. Details of the size and position of the emblem are not given in the decisions, but are left for a further decision. Such a decision seems not to have been adopted yet, therefore but the 1981 and subsequent regulations should be followed.
The emblem is picturing the river Sava flowing from the hilly region into the ravines of Krško fields. It also represents energy. Below the emblem, as a part of it, is written the name of the municipality.
