Lendava (in Hungarian, Lendva) is a town and municipality in far north-west of Slovenia, in a region called Prekmurje ("over the Mura river"), Before the First World War, it was part of Hungarian Kindgom (within the Austro-Hungarian Empire), and there is still a considerable Hungarian community living there. Lendava region is known among other things for the oil production, exceptional for Slovenia.

The coat of arms and flag of Lendava are prescribed by decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Lendava, adopted on 12 September 1996, published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije 96/54 on 27 November 1996, with effect on 4 October 1996.
The decision shown in the official gazette does not have a graphical representation of the coat of arms and flag, but only their description.
Here is the translation of this (ambiguous) description:
The flag of the Municipality of Lendava is made in proportions of the sides 1:3 (width:height). Along vertical axis it is divided in three fields. The first field is green, the second is silver and in the middle it contains the local coat of arms. The coat of arms is proped to the first fourth of the white field and ended on the third fourth of the white field.
