Krompachy (Hungarian: Korompa, German: Krombach) has 8.252 inhabitants (1990 census) The town in Szepes (Slovakian: Spiš) County of Hungary till 1918/1920 (Declaration of Martin). 1920-1939 Czechoslovakian, 1939-1945 Slovakian, and 1945-1992 Czechoslovakian. In 1910 the settlement had 6.378 inhabitants (40,4% Hungarian, 38,3% Slovakian, 16,7% German, 2,0 Serbs). In the settlement was a large Jewish community (427 inh.).
