Liptovská Porúbka CoA

[Liptovská Porúbka CoA] image from this website., reported by Jarig Bakker, 6 Jul 2002

The CoA has two saints, the Apostle Simon with saw, and Jude with an axe (his face is skeletal...); Simon is Simon the Zealot, and Jude is not Judas Iscarioth, but probably the same as Thaddaeus. According to legend they preached in Mesopotamia, and the apocryphal Passion of Simon and Jude describes the preaching and martyrdom of those two in Persia. They are still linked together on their combined feast-day in the Western Church on 28 October.
