Flag based on  the "HERALDICKÝ REGISTER SLOVENSKEJ REPUBLIKY" Volume III, Bratislava: Ministry of Interior. 2003 - adopted 1991, based on a 17th century seal.
Sečovce (Hungarian: Gálszécs) was in Zemplén (Slovakian Zemplín) County of Hungary till 1919/1920 (Czechoslovakian Occupation). It is 20 km east of Kosice in east Slovakia with 6.000 inhabitants.
